I usually try not to judge a book by it's cover but Sirens and Muses had such a gorgeous cover it was difficult for me to NOT pick it up.

Part 1 was quite underwhelming. The characters weren't fleshed out and nothing at all was happening and I just wasn't invested. However, I decided to trudge through it and I'm happy I did because the quality of the novel greatly increases in Part 2.

After Part 2 the novel began to feel so much more real. The characters had actual thoughts and feelings and lives and goals and aspirations and their personalities began to emerge. Preston was extremely annoying but I loved reading about Louisa, Karina, and Robert and their journeys.

I think the one thing I took away from this book is that everyone has their own journey, and you just have to trust in it.
