Our main character is having trouble with her friends and family this summer. She and her friends have graduated high school, one is ready to move on and distances herself while prepping for college, and the other joins a Quidditch league. When main gal's stepmom and dad ground her for the summer, the only concession they make is that she can also join the team as a way to get exercise. She learns more about friendship, herself, and her dynamic with her family as the summer leads to a big tournament at a university out of town, which she technically isn't allowed to go to.
