Warning: It was impossible to do this review without giving away a bit more than I am usually comfortable with about the first book. Please be prepared that a few scenes from book 1 may not be as surprising after reading this - but I promise to leave as much unsaid as possible.

After Annika and Talvi are finally reunited - this time in her world, everyone thinks things are going to be just grand. True love conquers and all that. Too bad true love isn't paying much attention at the moment. Their time apart has caused Annika to become withdrawn and more distrustful of Talvi with every day. When he shows up unexpectedly on her doorstep thinking things are going to go right back to normal, he couldn't be more wrong.

This sets the theme for most of the book, and while it was well played out and very realistic emotionally, I did get a little tired of their constant battles about trust. The highlight of the story was their time in Paris. Both come to some very big realizations about each other and themselves. With most of this story taking place in the "real world" I missed the fairy creatures that I had come to love and was very excited when they made their few appearances.

While the book remains focused on Talvi and Annika, there were a few pages here and there dedicated to a few of their companions from book one. I wish there had been more - hopefully a book three will bring everyone back together again.

Overall, a very good book 2 for a series, with another cliffhanger (grrrr) so I will just have to go read book 3 so I can find out how this all wraps up.
