Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
by J.K. Rowling
Last summer, I reread the first six, but couldn't quite bring myself to read this one yet. I was avoiding it for two reasons: it's so freaking big, but there's this momentum so you can't quite stop reading. And 2--my reaction the first time was so emotional, that I just wasn't sure I wanted to put myself through that again.
And that is the blessing and curse of this book. The first half of the book I spent way too much time thinking about the movie version. But then I got to the second half.
The other night, I picked it up, with over 200 pages left. I knew I shouldn't try to finish it that night, but I also knew that I probably would. At 1 a.m., I turned out the lights, after sobbing, cheering, and everything else. And with the immediate desire to read the all 7 books again or at least watch the movies. Sigh.
