i know it's only january, but i think i just read my fav book of the year. if i could give this book more than five stars, i would. how ali smith captures the beauty and misery and joy and wretchedness of humans and art and language and humour is astonishing. this was by far my fav book in her seasonal quartet and fav one of her oeuvre that i've read so far. the characters from the previous books showing up and interacting with the new ones warmed my heart like the summer of 1989. especially daniel. he might be one of my most beloved characters ever written. i am so grateful to live in a time where ali smith is writing books
