There is a lot of additional fluff and waffle that could have been taken out to be more focused on the practicality and guides. 

Building a second brain builds on aspects of David Allen’s GTD. 
I have enjoyed reading the parts that are relevant to building a second brain and incorporating this with Thomas Frank’s Ultimate Brain Notion template.
