The Corpse Wore Stilettos by M. J. O'Neill
4.0

The Corpse Wore Stilettos is M.J. O’Neill’s debut novel. This is a fun, cozy mystery about Kat Waters who works in a morgue and one night one of the bodies she is working on is stolen. Kat pairs up with DC who works with her and Burns McPhee who owns a security company who happened to also be in the morgue the night the corpse was stolen.

Kat’s family was wealthy until her father was arrested for racketeering and being involved with the mafia. Kat gets a job at the morgue to help support her mother and grandmother until they solve what is going on with her father. I loved all of the quirky characters in this book especially Grand, Kat’s grandmother. She was such a kook, and I loved the scenes she was in.

I am a big fan of cozy mysteries, and this one did not disappoint. I didn’t figure out the ending, but I did know one character would be involved, but I won’t give away any spoilers. I’m looking forward to the sequel especially because this one ended with a cliff hanger. Plus, I want to see what happens with Kat and Burns. O'Neill did a great job of keeping the readers interested so that they'll continue with the series.

I received an advanced copy of this book from BookSirens in exchange for my honest review.
