linsliterarylove 's review for:
Such a Quiet Place
by Megan Miranda
Megan Miranda is an author that I have tried so hard to love. Unfortunately, Such a Quiet Place was not the book that made it happen for me. I did read reviews before committing to the entire book (because I came very close to DNFing) and I have to agree with most of them that the first half of the book is boring.
Harper lives in a neighborhood where everyone knows each other. A couple next door is murdered and Ruby, her roommate, is held responsible for it... that is until she gets released from prison based on a newfound injustice. Ruby returns to the neighborhood and everyone is on edge.
There's a lot of filler that goes on in Harper's mind that makes me want to yell at her. A lot of the plot is so obviously fake and I was not enthralled by the mystery. None of the characters stood out to me. I continued through the second part of the book since a lot of reviews said the second half is waaaaay more interesting and it was... but that twist was dull.
I really wanted to love this one.
