The Gospel of Loki by Joanne M. Harris
3.0

More of a 2.5 book, but I like to round up.

This book was, well, mostly disappointing. I was hoping for an original story, instead of getting retold myths I've already heard ten times over, but with a little different phrasing.

I was hoping for Loki's tone to be more prevalent, to be more charming and witty. He is called Silvertongue after all. But all he did is whine and be a jerk to his wife and kids, something that wasn't really in his nature in most myths.

There wasn't much this book did to differentiate itself from other books like it. Making Loki a demon was strange and doesn't really fit within the Norse world, Sigyn was nothing more than a Loki groupie, giving her an incredible disservice.

And Loki just seemed off the entire time, like he was some sort of pale imitation of himself.

I'm going to try with the sequel just because it's set in modern day and will give me a new story.
