Uncork My Love
by Rich Amooi
This book had me laughing out loud from the very first page! This author always brings some of the funniest humor to his stories. One thing I loved was the grandparents in this book. They were kooky and wacky and up to all kind of plots. And it was really fun that we even got one chapter from Ted’s grandma’s point of view. The characters were fun, I loved how Ted was just annoying and antagonistic, in a fun and playful way. But also how he did realize that maybe he had said things he shouldn’t say, but not until after they were out and then he had to do major damage control.
Ivy was stubborn, but you could tell she had good reason for it. And I adored all the t-shirts with funny wine sayings they had in their gift shop. Now, I’m personally not a wine drinker. But is it weird to say that I actually do enjoy going to wine tastings? I like to see if I can detect all the little notes of things that they mention in the descriptions of a wine’s flavor. But I really can’t stand to just drink a glass of wine. Who knows, I’m just weird I guess! This story made me ready for wine tastings to be a thing again though!
At the very end, I was so close to marking this down to a 4 star rating, because I was afraid something had happened that at that point, I was actually whispering as I read over and over, “don’t let that happen!” And then it did. Fortunately the author saved it by instead of giving us the character supposedly in the wrong’s viewpoint, he let the other character find out the truth in a perfect way that they then realized they had to apologize to the other one and make it up to them. I won’t say what happened, because I don’t want to spoil it.
This was a lot of fun and a quick, sweet read!
