Green Lanterns, Volume 1: Rage Planet (Rebirth)
by Sam Humphries
This is officially my first Green Lantern book I've read (unless count Omegemen. Which has a Lateran in it...and it's very good. Go read it.)
Green Lanterns is the story of two characters, very different, who have to work together to take down the RED. The red are basically filled with rage and want to make everyone in the world fill up with...you guessed it...RAGEEEEEEE!
Jessica has been a Lantern before, and it seemed she fucked up (again haven't read any other title...this is probably not the best idea) and she must team up with none other than Simon...who is basically a man with a "dark" past that makes him bullheaded. Two very different characters now have to stop the world from turning into insane evil rage monsters.
It's not bad actually. The goods are the art, which I enjoyed. I also love the dialog between the two main characters. Having them back and forth convos, which are mostly humorous, makes it a easy and enjoyable read.
The negatives really come down to the pacing, it seems off, or rushed. It also wraps up to easy for such a BIG threat. I also didn't like some of the forced background stories making the characters seem weaker when it should be about growth not forced emotion.
Either way this did get me excited enough to want to continue. I also really should get on that GL omnibus...I will I swear....I just need money...I NEED MONEY...okay I'm good. A 3/5!
