The morale of the book: women’s mental health is not a effing joke!! Also, women are badasses and men ain’t shit. I approve this message. Lol. Basically, this is a dark ghost story that I feel is in a way a metaphor for post partum depression/normal depression in women, especially those of color taken less seriously. Generational trauma is a huge theme, and I am happy to say despite all the realistic and gruesome shit these women are put through, they pull out and manage to start a new cycle of caring for themselves and paying more attention to their wants and needs.
