This started out really promising, and then it got really really slow. The conflict also became super repetitive too. The hero needed to marry for money, respectability and status, and the heroine didn’t have any that. And he kept telling her he couldn’t marry her, and they kept antagonizing over it, and it just got boring. Which is unfortunate because the first hundred pages were really well done. But by the time we hit the hundred page mark, basically the entire back of the book premise was already over.

I enjoyed the hero, and the heroine on their own and they were sweet as a couple but I just couldn’t look past their endless will-they-won’t-they schemes. I’m interested in the next book in the series however, as it’s a sapphic historical!
