Burning the Books: A History of the Deliberate Destruction of Knowledge
by Richard Ovenden
I expected this book to focus more on the burning of books, who burned them, how they came into power, etc... In the beginning this book was more about how book burning affects the people in more of a societal sense - the latter half felt like it highlighted specific individuals and the destruction of their personal libraries (which it is important to keep the works public figures, like writers, after their death) rather than what happened to the community in the surrounding area.
overall very wordy and a little boring - some chapters could've been condensed
