I think I wanted to like this book more than I really did. The story was so unique, and it was such an interesting concept, but it was the pacing that tripped me up. It was just so slow, and such a journey, which makes sense with the book itself, but I just wanted it to move faster. It feels like almost a prequel to another story. I liked the writing style, but it didn't do what I wanted it to. I might read the second one eventually, but it's not a priority for me right now.
