As much as I love a good retelling, especially of classic stories, I didn't love this one. I did enjoy the alterations and new interpretations of the characters, especially Jane's, but it was the ending that really took away some of my enjoyment.

If the Bertha character wasn't the ultimate villain, I think I would have liked it more. I just have a problem with villainizing her, as I usually think of Bertha as an unfortunate victim and making her actually vindictive and borderline insane was not a change I loved.

I like the twist, but not the twist itself, if that makes sense.
