I don't think Christie wanted to write this book, and it was quite apparent in the characters, pacing, and rather underwhelming plot. Nearly every character Poirot interacts with could be summed up as "KiDs ThEsE dAyS" - several of them had the same talking points in the same order in the matter of a couple of chapters.
