This was a very short four poem sample of Maya Angelou's work. I can understand why she is such an appealing writer. She tackles themes like womanhood with an intersectional black identity. Her poetry is easy to understand while still having a strong impact with every verse. I'm looking forward to giving her prose a try in the near future as well. If it's anywhere near as impactful as this, I think I've found a new favorite author.
