As a huge fan of dystopian fiction, I had high hopes for this one. While the concept of a totalitarian beehive intrigued me, I found myself wishing the story delved deeper into the oppressive regime rather than shifting focus elsewhere. The depiction of the ultimate goal being motherhood didn’t sit well with me, though I understand it ties to bee biology.
Some parts left me puzzled—might just be my limited knowledge of bees, but certain events felt weird.
