Certainly not an easy read, but an interesting and surprising one. The experimental structure makes it awkward to read at times, especially for somebody like me who likes a more “classical” approach. It does cover very relevant themes and aged remarkably well for a book written in the 1960’s.

Brunner is definitely a great writer, but this book is not for everyone. It is much more a social study than anything else, and it’s made in a style that will rebuke many readers. As much as I found it interesting and well written, I didn’t enjoy reading it. I found it tedious, because of the structure. So it looses a star because of the readability, it it’s highly subjective and some readers will probably find this being a plus for the book rather than a negative.
