I finished this late last night/early this morning (around 1a) and have been thinking of how to write a review for it.

Personally, I thought it was incredible. I've seen a lot of people talking about how it makes you sympathize with a villain, but I didn't get that. For me it showed me that Snow was always selfish and potentially evil.

Of course I could see redeemable qualities, but Snow consistently chose to do only that which would benefit himself. Sure, maybe he was conflicted while doing it, but he still made the selfish choice every time.

I even almost wanted love to redeem and then break him because then I could see the "sympathize with the villain" angle. But I just could not see that in this story and I was looking for it.

Regardless, I loved the story. Seeing the earlier Hunger Games and seeing the seeds for how they would evolve into what we know with Katniss was fascinating. Seeing Snow as a teenager was equally fascinating to me. I love knowing almost everything about important characters and Snow was an important character in Hunger Games trilogy. In fact, I'll be reading Hunger Games soon to see how this new information about Snow impacts my thoughts on him as an antagonist.
