The Best Awful
by Carrie Fisher
This novel picks up on Suzanne Vale's story somewhere between 10 - 15 years after the original story. Now she has medications and a child, but her penchant for disaster has not changed a bit. It's a sad story to read knowing that is is so heavily autobiographical (Fisher admits as much in her memoirs). I would recommend it to anyone looking for a harsh but fair portrayal of mental illness.
