Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
5.0

REREAD 2025: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I first read Never Let Me Go in 2021 and in the years since, it's stayed with me in a way few books have. When my book club chose it, I was looking forward to reading again.

For a book about what it's about, it's astounding how comforting the main character is on a reread. Reminiscing about her upbringing in a dystopian boarding school, the gentle remembrance of happier days is at odds at the reality of these characters futures in a way that is masterfully written. Though I could remember every twist and turn in the story this somehow made it better, bringing that feeling of reminiscence even closer.

It's definitely a book I'll have to come back to and one I'd recommend to anybody. Our book club chose from the list of banned book whilst it's easy to see why it was banned, it's simultaneously scary that any book like this can be.
