corrigan 's review for:
Sex Cult Nun
by Faith Jones
dark
informative
sad
tense
medium-paced
It is WILD that one of the most horrific cult stories I've ever read ends coming down harder on Communism than on the cult, and becomes about property law rather than truly dealing with her deconstruction. The last bit of this book feels like she's just saying "Yeah, this was effed up, but bad things happen to people in the secular world, too, and there was some good stuff." She also seems to defend kids having sexual relations with one another? Eeeyikes. Much like you don't have to hand it to ISIS, you do not, in fact, have to be grateful for your experiences in a pedophile r*pe cult.
Edit: Okay, reading other reviews and finding out she's now a self-help grifter sure makes this make a lot more sense -- especially why she doesn't REALLY condemn her cult. From one to the next.
