This book was a suggested read that I'm glad I did not ignore. If I known better, I would have read all three of the Hartigan books first. In Tomboy we get more face time with Cole's ex.
I read it after this one and the extra insight on Cole's ex and her personality in contrast with Tess was nice.

I love Tess. I know a few woman similar to her and foster kids who have similar defense and coping mechanisms as both Cole and Tess. If you read the summary you know that she's preggers in this story, but her reaction, acceptance, and determination to be good person and mom.

They are a great couple and it's a cute story. I love them and their friends.
