Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison
3.0

I don’t know how to rate this one... I really don’t know.

[edit: I've decided to go for 2.75 stars, rounded up to 3]

I didn’t really enjoyed reading it, especially for the first part, but I’m glad I read it. The second part was way better in my opinion, way less messy, and I enjoyed it more. I felt like it followed a proper storyline.
Maybe it wasn’t just the right time to read it. Who knows? It happens sometimes.

I had trouble getting into the story, and being invested in the characters. The first few chapters were confusing for me, and it took me a bit of time getting use to the writing, though there’s no denying that Toni Morrison’s writing is beautiful and full of symbols.

I’m also not the biggest fan of magical realism, and the elements of magical realism we got in this book confused me (like Ruth's ability). Part 2 was better in my opinion, and the ending felt a bit abrupt.
