The Ocean at the End of the Lane
by Neil Gaiman
This book is, essentially, a memory. I don't know how else to describe it and even if I did I don't know that I'd want to. There is a certain charm in discovering the world and the Hempstock family.
I can say that it's a quick read. Just under 200 pages. It's a one sitting kind of book and would probably be a perfect airplane read.
This is also very much a book that leaves you wanting more, but not in a sequel sort of way. There are those who could, convincingly, argue that it ends unresolved. I felt that a little bit. But I also appreciated the ending as part of the overall atmosphere. Not everything needs spelling out and explaining. Though if that's your thing this one will probably annoy you.
Overall I'd say I enjoyed it quite a bit.
