3.5 stars - I did enjoy it, but had some major issues with it, and would recommend it to a very specific group of people (younger readers just getting introduced to fantasy).
I first read Eragon some time in elementary school (I want to say 5th grade, but all the classrooms looked the same and are blurring together so I can't be sure). I was so inspired that a 15 year old wrote this book, and I was obsessed with Saphira. 100% chance I wrote about her on some sort of state exam.
I reread it per the request of my fiancé, who just reread them and had so much fun with them that I had to.
If I were to rate this book as an adult, high fantasy novel, the rating would honestly be a lot lower. But I'm going to review it as a middle grade/young adult fantasy novel for those new the genre, in which case it's 3.5 stars for me. I had a hard time with the flow of the book sometimes - some passages were just too flowery and trying too hard to be profound. But in general the plot was fun, if not necessarily new and original. I'll keep reading them, but I'm going to get through my stack of February romances first.
