Classic Barton illustrations (simple, bubbly, bold) follow a bus driver as he picks up cats and dogs. Although the addition and subtraction may be lost on the young crowd that Barton appeals to, at least it provides early exposure. With comprehension of addition and subtraction, the story will still be a winner with counting.
