The Mindf*ck Series
by S.T. Abby
Full Series Review:
“Mostly because she’s fucking ridiculously brave enough to wander around a town where a man was just skinned alive. Why can’t she be normal and lock herself inside this cabin?
I’m getting an ulcer over her”
This series is advertised as a revenge fantasy, but in reality, it’s so much more than that. It’s about grief, devastation, perseverance, healing, closure, friendship, and love.
Is it centered around Lana, the FMC and her need for revenge? Yes.
Does it involve her torturing and murdering the people who brutalized her, her brother, and her father? Yes.
Was it too much, did she take her grief too far? No.
I won’t be forgetting what happened to that family for a long time, the suffering they endured at the hands of socio/psychopaths and the silence they received from an entire town who witnessed it.
Maybe I loved Lana because I believe that vigilante justice is sometimes the only way to help when a victim has been silenced. But I loved her humanity as well, how she had such a dark sense of humour and how Logan grounded her, kept her from breaking.
Jake is the best friend everyone needs, who will stick by you through thick or thin, life or death. I loved their dynamic and friendship, how it showed that sometimes blood isn’t thicker than water. Logan was perfect and the ending, which I didn’t see coming - both the original murderer and the 3 years later - was unexpected in the best way. They spend their anniversaries doing the things they love for the people they love
