Her Dark Lies
by J.T. Ellison
This was an excellent mystery/thriller! I found it randomly while browsing for a new ebook, its cover caught my attention, and the description sounded similar to The Guest List but had potential to be better! My attention was captured immediately, I finished reading the bulk of it on the beach and the ending once I got home. Claire and her famous/from a rich family fiance Jack are heading to his family's villa on an Italian island to get married. It will be a small affair, meticulously planned by his mother and her assistant. Claire loves Jack but the only thing bringing her doubts is the fact that she will be his second wife and his family will never talk about what happened to his first wife other than she died. Once they arrive, others start dying and it soon becomes clear that someone is not happy that Claire is joining the family. The only thing that would have made this better would have been an unexpected twist. That said, I liked the different narrators used by the author to tell the story, including the killer's (the readers don't know who it is in the beginning but by the time the reveal happened it was clear to me).
