"Suspicion is an insidious thing."
Karen and Tom are a happy couple living in New York. One day, Tom returns home to find that Karen has vanished. The police show up to inform him that there has been an accident and takes him to the hospital. Karen has suffered memory loss from her concussion, leaving her unable to remember why she was found in a bad part of town where a murder had occurred.
This was your average thriller filled with typical thriller tropes - lies, deceit, strangers, and unreliable characters. Karen is a suspect in a murder case after crashing her car near the crime scene. The police find it convenient that she doesn't remember anything, but when her memory slowly comes back it then becomes a race of deceiving everyone and proving her innocence.
I'll admit, there were a few twists and turns I did not see coming that had me flipping through the pages quickly to see what would happen next, but other than that, the characters were bland and annoying, and the story itself was mediocre.
