I had heard a lot about this book, so that may have made my expectations too high. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the novel, and the author used a lot of great imagery to immerse the reader in the environment. However, I struggled to connect to the main character once she began getting older. I love a good twist ending, but the ending on this one made me feel like something was lacking. The story didn't feel like it earned the ending it got. Overall I'm glad to have read it, but I won't be returning to this one again.
