I took a chance on this book when I was feeling in the mood for a pick-me-up, and wow am I glad that I did. Even though I pieced things together before the characters did, it was never irritating like murder mysteries can be. Instead every page was sweet, magical, and character building. The world felt large and rich without having to go into too much detail about the magic systems and how it all worked, and I loved the small town cozy vibes even if I often got frustrated with the townies for their prejudice against Sella for something she did as a literal child. The characters were diverse and inclusive in the best way, and I can't say how much I appreciate that seeing as most other murder mysteries lack this.

I am desperately waiting for the next installment of this series. It might be my favorite book of the year. I am only sad that when I went to go see what else this author has written so I could read more, this was the only book she has written so far. I will be checking in with this author often as even though this is their first book, they are already so outstandingly amazing at writing. I signed up for their newsletter, followed them on every platform, everything I could to be alerted at any news they may have for more writing. The whole book had immaculate vibes (I can't stress that enough, I felt every emotion in the best ways) and I really hope everyone under the sun who likes a good  cozy book will read this.
