Mike Gayle is a brilliant writer who creates such realistic characters that you really do empathise with them. ⁣

I thought the characters were brilliant and the story was fantastic but it just didn't have that uplifting or fun element running through it. It is a very timely book about loneliness but I think for me it was just too much sadness at a time that is already quiet difficult.
