As I have never seen the musical, I was drawn to this book. I wanted to be able to listen to the soundtrack and actually understand the story line! With that goal, I would say that this is a pretty perfect book. However, as a stand alone (no musical soundtrack to devour afterwards) I probably would have only rated this one three stars. So I compromised and ended up with the four star rating! (Content Warning: suicide)
