The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street
by Lindsay Currie
This is a well written, entertaining middle grade horror story with a likeable main character and themes of friendship.
I have to admit though I was slightly disappointed because I went into the book expecting an atmospheric and perhaps scary read, and this isn't really that. There are occasional creepy moments but I never really felt tension or dread or even the cosy autumnal atmosphere I've found in some other spooky middle grades.
It's a good book and I enjoyed it, just don't go into it expecting strong atmosphere.
