The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu
5.0

I couldn’t put this book down. If you want to read this, i would recommend listening to it too. It really helped me follow the different characters and it moved me through the science passages that were a bit heavier than I would have preferred. Typically I would just skim them, but when listening to it, you don't have much choice.

This novel made me ask myself ethical questions, made me question my own perception of humanity, and had me honestly think about the consequences of what would happen if contact with alien life was made. That hasn’t really happened with sci-fi for me. I’ve never considered those questions before when I’ve read alien stories but this gave me that opportunity.

The science in the book is a bit much. I’m not a scientist. Those passages didn’t appeal to me. I took it as someone showing their work. Like “here’s how I made that leap.” I take all this with a grain of salt as it is science fiction, so I paid less attention to those sections.

This book worked for me, but it is definitely not for everyone.
