Tiger in My Soup
by Kashmira Sheth
Age: Preschool-1st grade
Siblings: Younger brother (main character) & older sister
When his older sister refuses to read to him, this younger brother's imagination takes control and creates an imaginary battle with a Tiger found in his soup. When the sister finally manages to break away from her own book, she makes a dramatic reading of her little brother's book--so imaginative that she turns herself into a tiger. A great celebration of imagination with an action-focused plot. The illustrations provide unique angles and I love the inside cover art of the tiger chasing the boy around Warhol cans of soup.
