Waiting for Tom Hanks is a romantic comedy and is the first book in a series of interconnected standalone by the same name from author Kerry Winfrey. I read this book last year before it was releases and I never got around to reviewing it for some reason. When I received a copy of book two, I went back to look at my review of book one and found myself completely drawing a blank. I knew I read book one and I knew that I enjoyed it, but I couldn't pull any memorable emotions or scenes, so I decided to re-read the book before I read book two in the series. And I am so glad that I did! Waiting for Tom Hanks is an adorable  rom com featuring heartfelt characters that put a big smile on my face. 

In Waiting for Tom Hanks, we meet our main character Annie, who is a total romantic at heart, but who is so swept up in her idea of an adorable meet cute that she fails to see one playing out right in front of her eyes. Our romantic interest is none other than movie star Tom Hanks. No! Just kidding, but it is a movie heartthrob in his own right. Drew is a popular actor and is a total goof ball with a ton of confidence. I loved watching him clash with Annie. Their story had all the charm and smiles of a true rom com, and I can certainly see it play out on the small or big screen. There is a bit of Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail in Annie, which I loved. 

Annie and Drew each had their own annoyances that popped up time and time again, but overall I was totally charmed by them and their story. And moreover, I loved seeing some of the supporting characters again like Chloe, because I know book two is about her and Nick. And I have to say I am totally down for that pairing! I think I might even be more excited for their story than I was for Annie and Drew's. (I am reading books one and two back to back but I took a quick binge read break to write this review so I can keep my thoughts separate between the two). If you are a romantic comedy movie fanatic like I am, I think you would really enjoy all of the little movie references as you watch this rom com come to life. This book was a lot of fun. Now Bring on book two- Not Like the Movies!
