“I love you,” Somers said. “What we have, I’ve never had before in my whole life. I get to be me, the real me. I get to be with you. That’s worth any price.”
Hazard whispered, “I love you too.”
hazard, meu amor, i wanted to whack you over the head so many times in this book. as per usual, gregory ashe DID NOT take it easy on us on this one. i understand why these events were so hurtful to him, but i still wanted ashe to make clearer what the heck was going on, i didn't even remember what promise hazard had made to somers dad and it felt flimsy that glenn was chasing this hard on the borrowed money somers took. regardless, it's still amazing to see our leads professing their love for each other and i just about lose my marbles every single time somers calls hazard sweetheart, it just about ruins me, i swear.
but it still hurt like all hell read somers saying those things about how much he gave up for hazard and stuff, i don't think he could ever go to the end of the line of that reasoning, but it still hurt to see him even mention it.
i still loved this book, it's solid 4 stars for me, and it didn't drag on like a few others did, but i didn't make many highlights for this book, so that shows that it didn't hit as many emotional marks with me as other installments.
