Words of Radiance
by Brandon Sanderson
This was the book I wanted when I started the Stormlight Archive. I enjoyed The Way of Kings, but it didn't properly grip me until quite a long way into the book. By contrast, once I started Words of Radiance I couldn't put it down, and switched frequently to the audiobook so that I could carry on with the book while doing chores or walking the dogs. I ended up basically reading the entire novel in two days.
It's quite a slow paced book, which I don't always enjoy but here it really works, with key character development and intricate worldbuilding. If I'm honest I don't find the magic system as interesting as, say, Warbreaker, but there's no denying that Sanderson has put a lot of thought into it.
Honestly this has got to be the best epic fantasy novel I've read in quite some time.
