The Broken Girls by Simone St. James
5.0
challenging dark emotional mysterious reflective tense medium-paced

I’m writing this the next morning because there were no words for me to describe how this book made me feel. I thought after I slept on it I would be able to write a pretty thorough review, but I’m still at a loss.

Just read it. PLEASE😭 That’s literally it. I expected a mystery/thriller with a paranormal element, but I got so much more than I bargained for with The Broken Girls. I was scared, looking over my shoulder to make sure Mary Hand wasn’t at my house. I cried—a lot. Like, ugly cry with snot reliving what Katie, CeCe, Roberta, and Sonia went through before their time at the boarding school and during. And knowing what “Good Night Girl” meant absolutely fucking ruined me! I also went back multiple times to reread the Prologue every time a new, big piece of the cold case was revealed. Everything slowly kicked into place through the entire book and I loved it!

My heart was ripped out, stomped on, and put back in my chest by the ending. This was a top tier read for me! I’ll recommend it to any and everyone🥹 Now to go add the rest of Simone St James books to my cart and tbr🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️
