This is a charming, whimsical middle grade story which should appeal to any bookworms who have ever dreamed of meeting book characters they love or visiting fictional places.

As a long-time fan of Jasper Fforde's adult fantasy 'Thursday Next' series, I couldn't help but see many similarities here, which is by no means a bad thing. Both series are highly imaginative, although 'Pages & Co' lacks Fforde's wonderfully bizarre humour (not a criticism, just a difference between them!).

I did dislike some of the stylistic choices in laying out the book, in particular the recurring habit of having words or sentences be laid out at strange angles, often appearing to fall away from paragraphs. It may have been intended to make the book more magical or whimsical but I just found it annoying and I wonder whether it may make it harder for some children to read the book, perhaps especially those with dyslexia?

The main characters Tilly and Oskar are extremely loveable, and the plot is fun, with a twist that I did see coming but appreciated all the same. I enjoyed the writing and I love that each chapter title is a line from within the chapter.

I definitely will be reading more of Tilly's bookwandering adventures.
