** spoiler alert ** While this book was not my favorite of the series, I still love the series and give it a total of 4⭐️/4🌶️. I really love Slade and Auren and how their stories unfold at the end. I enj0yed getting to know Rissa and Osrik in this last book, as well as Ryatt.

There were plenty of devastating moments, as to be expected in a book about a war between Orea and Annwynn. But there were also some very beautiful moments in this book too. Mostly having to do with Auren. Her character is beautiful inside and out. The amount that she has been through starting from book 1 until the end was astounding but she was stronger in the end.

I love how this last book finally ties in how she is a goldfinch.

I did not love the anticlimactic of the war and felt that there could have been a bigger climax to this. All of these books and I felt that it kind of went flat near the end.

I also felt there was not enough to tie up what happened after in Orea. I know they are all bound in Annwynn and there is no way back....but there are so many key players left in Orea that are now unaccounted for at the end of the series. I know they survived. But what actually happened in Orea after?
