I liked the first book in this series and had high expectations for this one.
I enjoyed it as it's a compelling and entertaining read but the cliffhanger at the end was a bit disappointing.
Cate Conte is a good storyteller and this story is more urban fantasy than cozy mystery as the mystery takes the backseat.
The world building is expanded and the magical system is interesting, the characters relatable (I loved the cats), the mystery part was well done.
I can't wait to read the next book.
