The Humans by Matt Haig
4.0

Most fiction explores what it is to be Human but very few in such a direct manner as Matt Haig's the Humans. The protagonist is an Alien that needs to destroy all evidence of a mathematical solution before the Human's destroy the universe. To do this he must become Human himself and work out how and why Humans do the things they do. It's laugh out loud funny, it's sometimes sad but it's always hopeful. It is not quite the best novel I have read this year (I only gave it four stars) but it is definitely one of my favourites (which not all five stars make). That is the contradiction that well makes me Human.
