The plot is the most complex it’s been yet, with numerous moving parts that come together nicely. The stakes, of course, revolve around a damsel in distress again. And mostly the women get to pay the price for any conflict, so while it’s a shake-up for Dresden and the world, and it’s more “fair” as to how much Dresden has to endure to resolve the situation, I still prefer the boys’ club in Dead Beat to this. This ties the knot on a bunch of stuff that was hanging around and does make it seem more interesting for future developments.
