This book takes place before Throne of Glass. It is multiple novellas in one book. Each story follows Celaena as she goes through different trials and events as an assassin. She overcomes a lot but also experiences hardship.

I liked these stories a lot. Novellas can be hit or miss for me, but these stories were all so good. I loved getting to know Celaena and her backstory. I felt so bad for her and all the things she had to go through.
