Rust in the Root
by Justina Ireland
This book was very unique never read anything like it set in the 30s but with magic and something that causes destruction and kills people. I also liked the images and little notes throughout it made for an interesting reading experience. I loved the characters especially Peregrine as she is called through most of the book and is not really called Laura sept at the beginning she is determined to make something of herself finds a mentor and saves people along the way. I really like the alternate history with certain tweaks to match this different magic filled world. The plot is really intriguing at down on her luck girl named Laura finds a purpose meets people maybe even romance finds out what is causing all the problems saves the day and is very happy in her life now.
